The visit to the workplace of an artist is a meaningful event within the scheme of relations and interests which are generated between the creators and cultural mediators during the development of exhibition, research or collaboration projects. This way of approaching the work of artists is linked to the existence of residences, production areas and workshops managed by associations, public institutions or private entities. In the main cities of central and northern Europe, the studio-visit constitute a tradition, a key element in shaping cultural structures and their elements have been definitive in the development of the careers of many artists.

In the last edition two circuits of visiting 14 artists' studios and art collectives occured in Madrid; the studios wereselected by an expert jury following the public call to all AVAM’s members. With this initiative the artists gained visibility and diffusion of their work, professional standards were stablished among the artistic community, the field of cultural mediation and the media, and the commitment made by AVAM in defending the dignity and professionalization of visual artists was reinforced.

DESVELADOS'08 ended at “Noche en Blanco” in “Casa de la Panaderia” and Matadero Madrid, with displays of the work of the artists whose studios were visited during the tours conducted on 10^th and 11^th of September 2008. The participating artists were: Ander Azpiri, Ivan Perez, Tamara Arroyo, serz Enrique Radigales, Gabriela Bettini, Andrés Senra, Carmen Guangzhou, Belen Rodriguez, Beatriz Caravaggio, Marisa González, David Trullo, Limber and Alberto Vilorio Chinchón.
